Every course of care at Dr. Akalewold Specialty Dental Clinic starts with a consultation. It is the visit where we get to know you, check the health of your teeth and gums, and explain what we see in plain language.
Consultations at the clinic are free. Please confirm availability when you call to book.
What happens during the visit
- A conversation about your concerns, your dental history and any medical conditions or medicines that affect treatment.
- An examination of your teeth, gums, bite and the soft tissues of your mouth.
- Dental X-rays if the dentist needs to see between teeth, below the gum line or inside the jaw.
- An explanation of what was found, including what is urgent and what can wait.
Your treatment plan
If you need treatment, the dentist will walk you through the options, how many visits each one usually takes, and what you can do at home to protect your teeth in the meantime. You are welcome to ask questions and take time to decide.
If you do not need treatment, the consultation is still useful: you leave with practical advice on brushing, flossing and diet, and a sensible date for your next check-up.
Who it is for
New patients of any age, people who have not seen a dentist in a while, and anyone with pain, sensitivity, bleeding gums, a broken tooth or questions about braces, crowns or other treatment.
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. The dentist will recommend treatment after examining you.
